Picasa Image Express for Wordpress

Select the photos you wish to insert. Select multiple photos using CTRL-click and SHIFT-clickThis Wordpress plugin essentially provides a quick and easy way to insert photos from Picasa while editing a Wordpress page. It additionally provides plenty of options and settings which should suffice for most users.

It came about while upgrading to Wordpress 2.6 and discovering Bogdan Necula’s Picasa Lightbox was not compatible (Update: I stand corrected - Picasa Lightbox 2 beta has been released and is compatible with 2.5+).

I have just started to learn Flex and decided to create my own Picasa plugin as a self-learning project. Words cannot describe how much PHP, Javascript and MXML syntax starts to screw with your head after too many cups of coffee, not enough sleep and not knowing each language all that well.

The plugin now resides at http://psytoy.net/picasa-image-express/

There’s also this video if you want to see it in action.

Features:

  • Browse albums of any Picasa user who has public photos available
  • Search for photos by caption and tags
  • Insert single or multiple photos to make a gallery
  • Lightbox / Thickbox support
  • Display captions
  • Supports all image sizes supported by the Picasa API
  • All options are fully configurable when you’re inserting photos
